Hey Cyber!

Portia Simpson Miller the Oppositon Leader and People National Party (pnp) president yesterday fight off a challenge from Peter Phillips the Opposition leader of Oppositon Business in the house of Parliament in Jamaica.

After it was clear that she was the winner she declare (all arguments settle)

I am not sure if all argument really settle because the challenger got almost 2000 vote of the 4400 delegates.

The hope by Simpson Miller is that they will fall in line and just follow the leader. Some think the leader have a duty to reach out to the loser and ensure the party is united.

It is said the buck stop with the leader and so it is the duty of the leader to unify the party. She stated that she is willing to work with anyone who are willing to work with her but she will be impatient with those who are working for unity in the party. She said all leaders will have to be held responsible and the party must hold them to that responsibility.

I did not hear a leader trying to make sure she take the first step to try and unify her party. I hear an angry, hurt, bitter, combative confrontational and chest beating but I might be wrong.

She said she was going to pray and get some rest last night. I hope god will help to guide the party toward unity and strength. Before the election last year She had said god sent her and for those who choose not to vote for her it would be them that feel the rath of god.

There are two parties in Jamaica. We have JLP and PNP. The JLP are the party in power now they won a close victory a little more than a year ago. The got 32 of the sixty seat parliament.

Leader of the Peoples National Pary (PNP)are elected by the delegates of the party. The constitution of Jamaica dont recognise parties it recognises the elected members of parliament. The Opposition leader are suppose to be elected from the major group in opposition. However the PNP decided in 2006 to let the delegates elect the opposition leader.

So even thought the Opposition Leader sound as if she is treatening the other side who did not vote for her she has little or no tool to remove the parliamentarians. She can stripe them of there party duties but that all.

So I dont think all arguments are settle as yet..
