I knew him well, from like 1973 times -- I was living in Jamaica full time then and went "to the beach" about two or three times a year. Instead, I would spend a good amount of my time on the property of Mr. Hogg where it was quiet and peaceful. Quite often I would scare Silly "silly" when walking up the west end road, where he would be waiting to conduct a business deal. There was this Mercedez with an almost "lazy suzanne" pull out underneath, filled to the hilt. In 1973 his dreads were just starting to grow, I liked him though, nice young dread back in those times. "How times flies when you're having fun" ... that was 35 years ago.
Now and then I still run into someone I knew well back in those early 1970's time at a stage show in Brooklyn. You see a face and something registers... you can see your face registering on theirs... and wondering how come they know you. Then an hour or so later it finally REGISTERS ... I actually have someone in my direct town whose parents owned the original gas station in Negril in the early days. I thought he was playing with me, when he came up to me and said that he remembered me from Redground.
What were the circumstances of his murder? I would also love to hear news of a couple of other dreads from the St. Ann's area that I knew back in a different time - one
"Maurice" and two "Ippie" (with the bad leg). They would often times come into Negril on business and hang around the Sands where the Treehouse now is.
