Hey Cyber! The Jamaican Govenment has established a committee to monitor the financial situation in the USA said the Prime Minister.

A day before yesterday the Finance Minister was saying Jamaica would not suffer any major consequencies as a result of what is happening in the USA. Hours later he took sick and have to be hospitalized.

The next day the Prime Minister said while he dont want to sound like he is making an alarm he think Jamaican should brase themselves for the fall out in Jamaica re the problems in the USA Financial Sector.

As a consequence of the effect he think it will have on Jamaica he has establish a committee to monitor the USA Financial market. The committee would be reportin directly to him so he can take inform and necessary decision if needs be.

The opposition party spoke to possible doubling of the projected inflation, decline in remittance; that is money sent back to Jamaica by family and friends living and working in the USA, possible decline in tourism as the sectors likely to feel the effect of the financial problem facing the USA.

NEWS at 10 o clock tonight said the Finance Minister is out of hospital and will be resuming duty on Tuesday..

I went to a CLUSTER meeting, a few minutes are a returned from the meeting and was making up a shopping list some tourist arrived. Their language they where talking sound like German.

After they got into MiYard goody's breadfruit, breadstick, slice fish, plantain, bammie and I see they where really enjoying it and chatting I asked on if they are from Germany and she quickly said no I am from lithuania.

I repeat Lithuania and she said yes we have our own language and we are all from Lithuania. So I said wow this is the first time I am aware of Lithuanians in Jamaica. I asked them their names they are Erika, Laura ; Lina, Kotryna. I wanted to ask more and chat with them to get an understanding of how they got to Jamaica. Did they came via the USA, are there charter flight from Lithuania. It was getting late and my shopping was calling me. Hopefully they will come back.

Is Eastern Europe a possible market for Jamaica? Have they been affected by the financial crisis now rocking most of the Western World? Could they be the answer for the possible expected down turn re visitor arrivals from our friends up North?

The Lithuanians are featured in this picture..
