Checked out the site re: Bachman: Haven't seen her, heard of her at all until today. I know she's not in my area, but hey we are "only" 90 minutes south of "The Cities" so it's not like we're a lifetime away. WISH we could help to get her out of office, though, just on what I have seen today. It's difficult to find a positive word on her.
The opening part on Tinklenberg's website about "Bridge Closed" got to me a little, as it made me think about the day of the I-35 disaster. We could have been on the bridge that day, at the moment it collapsed. At the last minute, we decided to break our normal routine and take the 'roundabout way over to WI which we have taken ever since. Our family was frantic at the time, as they knew the timeframe in which we were heading "Up North" to Wisconsin and they were unable to get ahold of us right away after the bridge collapse. I think we were doing something irresponsible like listening to music on the ipod, LOL...
BUT It never should have happened, and wouldn't have if it had not been for transportation budget cuts, both at the federal and state levels. I only say this because I KNOW, my husband was heavily involved in the road construction industry (private) at that time- but now thankfully retired.
How is it that we have more people now (population-wise) paying in taxes than ever before, and we can't afford to even take care of our infrastructure? People have literally lost their lives for this!
Will hold the rest of my thoughts back on this for now...
