Advance voting

In many states, people are able to vote early. I would strongly encourage those who have that option to do so.

With the huge increase in voter registrations this year, there are some concerns about there being errors in the voter rolls. (In Georgia, as of Friday, there were more than 100,000 voter registration applications that had not been processed.) If, for some reason, you have been left off the list, it is easier to deal with that before election day. Again, in Georgia, our Secretary of State has decided to do spot checks of voters' citizenship. If there is such a question, it is easier to deal with it before election day, instead of having to round up your passport, birth certificate, etc.

There is also expected to be a big turnout of voters, so the polls may be very crowded on election day, so voting early might save you some time. Some states have new voter ID laws, so there is expected to be some confusion at the polls, since voters will be expected to produce different types id than in the past.

One caveat, in many states there are constitutional amendments, referendums, etc., so there is more to vote on than just the President. So, if you are going to vote early, make sure you know how you want to vote on these lesser known issues before you get there.

So, as Bob Schieffer's mom would say "go vote now."
