What I saw on that show, was that there was about 9 different forms/ steps people had to take before the aid was available, some of them to insure there was no fraud involved with the applications..........but in the meantime isn't all the Katrina aid being eaten up by the administration of the gov't programs and the red tape?
John Stossil's point was that the people in America can always fix things better themselves than when the government gets involved ( I forget the term he used), but he made so much sense. esp. when he talked about the gov't trying to "fix" the housing market crisis that they themselves created......banks used to make prudent loans, require collateral, credit checks and good credit before they'd loan money...Gov't intervenes and forces banks to make risky loans so homeownership is available for everyone, credit checks stop, risky loans are made, the bubble eventually bursts..........
Lots of bad guys get very very rich and then WE bail them out for this huge misstep...
and now banks will eventually go back to doing things the way they used to, the way that worked.........but in the meantime how many people have lost everything?
