One of my biggest complaints about things is the repeal of Glass-Stegull...I think this has really hurt things...this was a Republican bill but passed overwhelmingly by both parties, nearly unanimous with only one or two dissenters in both the House and the Senate. This has caused many problems on the finance and investment side of things. Some could blame the R's for this, but it had bipartisan support an so both are to blame for that debacle. I think rather than blame one side or the other or call it an R bill of a D bill, we need to look at the votes as that is what counts in the end. Or we could look at the fillibuster and see who is stopping things from going through. I think we can all benefit in this country by looking forward to and working across the aisle and watching what our elected officials do and communicate our wishes to them.
As far as who was at fault for this or that, it has clearly become a futile and wasted exercise as done is done. It acts to demonize one side or the other and does not promote agreement. That divides. Undoubtedly there are people on both sides we would all do better to get rid of. And we need term limits..many on both sides agree on this. Our elected officials will not be wanting to work together and I think the only way to get thigns done is for the voters to demand they to work together by calling their offices adn communicating what is in our best interests which is thier job.
As for some comments I made to you yesterday, I would like to first apologize and second retract. I mentioned an apology in another thread. As far as I am concerned , the elections may as well be over today. Done is done. At this point, I would prefer to look forward not back.
Our passions are strong. While they have divided us, I think put together, we could act much more positively in the future. I look forward to that possibility and prefer to put our differences aside. I hope you can also put your differences with me aside. Please do not doubt my sincereity but would note it probably will be difficult but not impossible. I love this country and am sure you all do. Let's start by keeping that in mind.
Sincerely Roger - peace and respect...Ray
