In Response To: one last question about Obama... (oldtimer)

In some ways, it is even more historic that a bi-racial person was elected President.

In the early 70's I was pretty seriously dating a black man. Neither family was happy about it, though my family was more opposed than his. The one thing that both families agreed on was that IF we decided to get married, it would be "selfish" to have children, because a biracial child would be an outcast in both the black and white community and it would not be fair to do that to a child.

Thus, to me, it is even more gratifying to see thirty plus years later that a biracial person can be accepted by BOTH white and black voters.

It is a beautiful day to be an American.
