After 3 months of being appalled by air-only prices to Jamaica, we were convinced that a package was in our future. It had been years since we'd gone that route. For the price of a modest package in Negril we could find low end all-inclusive deals in Puerto Vallarta, a city we both like quite a bit. PV airport immigration is so far superior to Jamaica's that we've written numerous times to Jamaica's Tourist Board begging them to check it out and learn how smooth sailing things can be. We had no interest in a manufactured area like Punta Cana which seems to be the low price leader. Still, we both love Jamaica and only like Mexico. We are on Vacation Network, Apple Vacation and FunJet Vacation mailing lists among others and had been disappointed with everything to date. Beth (my wife) had recently gotten a new contract employee job and casually mentioned she had obtained the right to take unpaid time off in February. I needed to book ASAP. I also vowed no connecting flights for us in winter so Chicago departures were out. It had to be a direct flight from Milwaukee. FunJet mentioned a sale ending Nov. 20th and I found a place in PV we visited in the past and the price seemed fair. Just to double check, I punched in our preferred travel dates for Jamaican air-only and the price had dropped almost $175!!!! I booked and we will be back on the rock from Thursday Feb. 12 to Sunday February 22nd!!! This will be visit number 27 and I'm as excited as my first one.
p.s. I still hate the jumping through hoops and wasted time spent at Sangster. Unconscionable
