I received this in email today:

Director of Public Prosecutions Paula Llewellyn has ruled that three policemen are to be charged for the August 23 killing of teenager Carlton Grant Junior.

Two of the policemen who are all attached to the Kingston Central Police Station are to be charged with murder, while the third will face a charge of assault.

Carlton 'Carlisle' Grant, 17, the son of popular entertainer Spragga Benz, was shot dead by the police on Church Street downtown Kingston.

The policemen had reported that they responded to a call that two armed men travelling on bicycle had just held-up and robbed a woman in Downtown, Kingston.

Two men were later seen on a bicycle and were signalled to stop.

The police claim one of the men pulled a gun and fired at them.

They returned fire and the men ran.

The area was searched and Grant was found suffering from gunshot wounds.

It was also reported that a semi-automatic pistol was also taken from him.

Grant was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His family has consistently refuted the police version of the events.
