happy last day of the year

i woke this morning to a loud thump at 3 30 am

what on earth?

my eyes tried to focus,, maybe it was my aon kyle coming in from an overnight visit with the kids ,,,

my bedroom door was closed,

maybe he closed it on the way past

DOOR CLOSED!!!!!

ack

I stumbled over and turned on the light,, peering at the absent door knob which fell off last week,,,,

absent door knob,, closed door,,,
my mind tried to make sense of what I knew was wrong,,,,

ack

a sinking feeling over comes me

yes

I am locked in my room

(such a bad girl)

I crouch down,, and peer through the door knob insert

Maybe,,,, maybe Kyle has closed the door and he is in the apartment, and maybe he can let me out,,,,,

sigh,,,, no,,, it's dark
and the apartment is empty,,,,

just me and a locked door

and I have to pee,,,,

I look about the room
and close the window

Wind must have pushed the door shut

I spy my cel phone,,,, good thing for celphones
Now who do I call???

Fire department? (hello can you come rescue me)
Super? (it's now almost 4 am) (I'm not yet desparte, but I really do have to pee,,,) (should have gone before bed!)
My work? (I'm going to be late as Ilm locked in the bedroom) (and the dog ate my homework!)

Ok,, I text Kyle in Oakville,,,, when are you coming home son,,, I've locked myself in,,,)
His reply is quick,, but he's not coming home till well after 9am,,,,,

Smart boy,,, he calls me

Get a coat hanger,,, bend it into a U,,,, stick it thru the doorknob hole and turn the mechanisism to the left,,,,,,,,,keep trying,,, it willl work Mom,,,,

I follow his calm directions

I still have to pee,, but really bad now,,,

It's not working,,,, I start to get frustrated,,,, I use a shoe to hammer the hanger flat,, and try again,,,,

CLICK

and the door opens

I sigh with releif,, head to the bathroom,,,,,,,,, call Kyle on the cel and let him know Mummy is free,,,,

and make a mental note

to stop putting off gettting the Super up here to fix stuff,,,,

pour a coffee, (what the heck,, I'm up anyways

and so goes my last day of 2008.....

What has this taught me? There is always a lesson in everything they say,,,

I ponder,,, and I realize,,

I am capable. I can help myself...

There is no closed door that I can't open if I really try,,,

If I don't know what to do,, just ask and trust in directions given to me from those that love me.

Don't procrastinate on things that are important.....

and always pee before you need to.
