Apparently there is a whole heap of false information floating around about this case, as it seems Freckles had toured with Luciano as recently as 2008 as his sound engineer. I have two words for this situation, "pure fuckery", and I see a lot of this floating around Jamaica these days, even in the supposedly concious corner of the music industy apperently...
To me I see it as a very sad situation and state of affairs. The way I see it music from Jamaica had put the small country on the map internationally and was responsible for bringing an incredible amount of tourism and good will to the island. Today the music and artists of Jamaica is been in a tailspin to the gutter and are bringing down the entire country with them. I for one no longer have any interest what so ever in Jamaican music on whole, there are only a small handful of artists that still produce listenable music and present a positive vibe, and most of these artists have left the island. Recently I was discussing this with some locals on the west end, I mentioned Burning Spear as a concious artist that I love to see perform but rarely hear about him performing on the island. At that point someone told me they heard Burning Spear had commented that he no longer lives on the island because he fears someone will kill him. A very sad state of affairs indeed....
