Greetings, I am traveling to Tulum and Akumal next month in Mexico and need some advice on renting a car. I plan to fly into the Cancun airport and drive south. I am staying in a private residence located at a wellness center so I can't really use local transportation as easily as if I were staying in a hotel in a public place. I also want the freedom to move around to ceynotes, swim with the turtles in Akumal, experience the ruins and beaches in Tulum, visit the monkey sanctuary and explore Sian Ka'an Bio Reserve.

Any suggestions regarding car insurance and how to deal with it would be greatly appreciated. Forget using Am Ex or Master Card since I hear that won't take it. Suggestions around car rental are welcome as well as any other thing to do in that area.
