Delroy- about the current trend of violence

Greetings, Delroy~

I know all this bad news and recent violence in Negril has to be unsettling. I also know that the business owners are doing and thinking about what they can do to help. My husband is currently living in Jamaica so I have a lot of the inside scoop right now. He is now a member of the Ganja Hemp Farmer's Association and hopefully will be able to legally grow on our acre once everything goes through. Fingers crossed. Hope the legalization or pilot that may happen in Negril does not increase crime.

I have an idea based on my recent trip to Mexico. The Tulum/Akumal area is just lovely with almost no crime. It may soon lure tourists from Jamaica because the beaches are crystal white with gorgeous water and not a lot of development. What is there is small and unobtrusive.

When you enter Tulum, not matter what side, there is a small police check point in the middle of the road. You have to slow down and drive past it to get into the town. Instead of one big police station, they have these small units that talk to each other and if there is a crime, it would be difficult for a vehicle to get out of town quickly. I wonder if Negril had police checkpoints and cameras on those checkpoints, if it would prevent outsiders from coming in and causing havoc.

Like I said, there is virtually little crime in Tulum and Akumal and the police do not harass either.
