Grammy Nominations for Best Reggae Album

Recently, Billboard named Joss Stone's album as the best selling reggae album of the year, which should not be confused with it being "the best" album of the year, and created some controversy.

Earlier this month, Grammy nominations were made for best reggae album, which include, all but one of which are by Jamaican artists:

• Branches Of The Same Tree
Rocky Dawuni

• The Cure
Jah Cure

• Acousticalevy
Barrington Levy

• Zion Awake
Luciano

• Strictly Roots
Morgan Heritage

I was not familiar with Ghanian artist Rocky Dawuni, but I am listening to his CD and I'm liking it. He is the composer and lyricist most of the tunes and does good renditions of Bob Marley's Butterfly and Get Up, Stand Up.

I have been listening to Jah Cure The Cure and think it is a good album. I can see this winning.

While I like Barrington Levy and am glad he is being recognized and appreciate the acoustic versions of his songs, I do not think this is the best of the year and is not an album I would be tempted to buy.

I'm a long time fan of Luciano and Zion Awake is a fine album, but it is not my favorite of his albums (although I'm not sure that means it isn't the best album of the year?)

Finally, while I like Morgan Heritage and bought this CD, I do not think Strictly Roots is their best album and don't think it will be the winner.

So Yardies, what do you think?
