The cynical me says that whatever the size, manufacturers will make their containers slightly larger than allowed to try and force you to buy the tiny, less economical, travel sizes.

I have thought of forking over the dollars to get the global clearance which allows one to have less screening. I'm on Delta's preferred flier list, which is really nice (and didn't cost anything), but it doesn't work on any other airline or international lights . It sure is nice to not have to take out one's liquids (those the size rules still apply), computer or take off shoes and to have a shorter line.

BTW, when I was flying in Europe they acted like I was crazy when I started taking off my shoes.

There's not much fun about air travel, other than it gets you there quickly.
