Like the US we have a newish government. Ours are a like more than a year old. Us is about 7 months.

When there are new administrations they carry with them new names and sometimes new idea but generally the reality is the same.

Lets us look at one new name. The previous administration had a body call Negril Resort Board. That board the members of the board was appointed by the minister of tourism. The was I understand it to work was that the community members would bring their community issues to be aired a the meetings. The issues that get the most support or the ones the board like would be tackled by way of proposed projects to be adapted by the various government or non government organisations, funded by the Tourism Enhancement Fund after approval by some other body or bodies.
There is a new tourism minister now and the resort board and members go with the outgoing minister.

The new minister change the name and appointed new people to this new board. It is now called Destination Assurance Committee/Council. So they had there first meeting yesterday.. It was held at the community center. They try to invite as many people as possible. This I think was a chance for them to lay out and give people a chance to put their I would say burning issue before them. My concern it would seems like they are opening a new page and there were no ongoing project or projects that was in process.

What was put before this new board?
A large number of persons present spoke about there garbage issues. After the chairperson see that a lot of the meeting were been taken up addressing garbage she tried to direct the people to address their concern to the rep from the company after the meeting but it continued.

The police addressed the audience. However they were new and learning about the community.. The chairperson remarked that every time as soon as the police get a good understanding of the community their high command moved them. She said she was unhappy with that..

To cut the story short , all the concerns and issues aired are all the same that were before the previous body and it would seems like every time there is a new administration we start all over again..
