Unfortunately, weaving carpets is just not one of those jobs that can't be moved to another (cheaper) country and the job tasks learned by $1.00 per hour employees. The only jobs that will be left her in the US in the future are jobs that are directly related to items installed here in the US.
Most everything can be made cheaper elsewhere but calling out a Maytag repairman from China to fix your installed Chinese-made washing machine bought from Wal-Mart is not one of them. Service jobs, hospitality (room cleaning, desk clerks etc.) for hotels that cater to the Foreign traveler and infrastructure (roads, bridges, etc.) may be all that will be left to make a living.
The Industrial Age in America is over and, as Bruce Springsteen said a long time ago..."Those steady jobs are going and they won't be coming back." We sold out the Information Technology to other countries as well. Not much left. I will be retiring next year. To Jamaica.
