Vocal trio the Mighty Diamonds, one of the top reggae groups to have emerged from the '70s roots, rock, reggae era will headline the fourth annual Reggae Culture Salute on Saturday, November 1 at Brooklyn's Cultural Performing Arts Center, 1020 East 48th Street in Brooklyn, New York.
The event, which will honor the 78th coronation of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Mennen of Ethiopia is being produced by TSO Productions.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music Fellowship for reggae studies at the University of the West Indies the organizers announced.
The Diamonds, which consist of members Donald "Tabby" Shaw, Fitzroy "Bunny" Simpson and Lloyd " Judge" Ferguson were formed in 1969 in the Trenchtown area of Kingston, Jamaica. For the past three decades they have entertained the world with their sweet harmonies and conscious lyrics. Their debut album titled "Right Time" has become an international classic, while their hit single "Pass the Kouchie" was covered by the "Musical Youths" and released as "Pass the Dutchie." To date the group has released over 40 albums in their distinguished career.
