I think it was Will Rogers, that soft-spoken cowboy humorist from the 1920s who said "When I was a boy they told me anyone could grow up to be president. Well, now I'm beginning to believe it". Certainly, it seems anyone can be considered for vice-president, as long as they have the basic qualifications to be a convenience store assistant manager, and get 7 out of 10 Reader's Digest vocabulary test questions right.
I thought being President of the USA was an important job, requiring exceptional qualifications. It seems that qualifications for that high office, and for the VP who stands first in line to assume that office, have now devolved to a level that includes everyone who is not feeble-minded or criminally insane. In fact, The current President might not pass even those modest requirements. Certainly, the current VP would have difficulty with the second item.
McCain has demonstrated his feckless superficiality by nominating an absurd mediocrity for vice president, a buffoon of Monty Pythonesque proportion.
I'm glad to see that Ray has discovered spell check, and acquired enough self-confidence to venture beyond Mampyville. Keep 'em short, Ray.
