Second, it was too much to see, listen and cheer to, to also take photos.
But most importantly, it was so cold that batteries stop working. I had read this and brought an extra set of batteries, which I kept in my pocket. When the first set stopped working I traded them out.
Even with the new warm batteries, the cold quickly affected them. Since I had hand warmers in my gloves, I ended up cupping the camera in my warm hands only removing it to take a picture. Didn't leave much opportunity for shots like GWB's helicopter flying over.
Of course, no photo can truly convey the positive energy, hope and goodwill throughout the crowd. Even the police and law enforcement were happy and in a good mood.
It makes me proud to be an American.
