"Life application Bible" What a concept!
I have never subscribed to organized religion as a result of corruption in the church I witnessed as a child that turned my entire family off from the catholic church. I have, however, read the bible over and over. I am always left with my head spinning asking myself, "How do the "religious right" dare claim Christianity as their own when their actions are so far from the teachings of Jesus."
Jesus was a man of peace who taught lessons like forgiveness, compassion, he believed in caring for the least in society, some might call that SOCIALISM? The New Testament says when you harvest your fields you are to leave the outer rows unharvested to allow the less fortunate to feed from the scraps of your harvest. Christianity is not an "everyone for themselves" religion and thus does not meld well with the modern day republican political concept at all, yet it is republicans that seem to wear religion on their sleeve and attempt to use religion as a wedge in elections. I just don't understand it, the republican concept is to "pull yourself up by your boot straps", leaving everyone to fend for themselves, this is completely contrary to the teachings of Jesus. It makes me wonder how many republicans actually read the bible? A life application bible seems to be just what the republican party needs....
