Roger,
I have a great deal of respect for you.
I too, was raised in a 'religious' home with a conservative, right-wing mother and a left-wing abusive and controlling father.
I no longer attend a building for church services, as I have issues with organized religion as a whole (or HOLE rather).
Although I'm a Christian, I'm not what anyone might consider typical.
I truly believe that most 'religions' are seriously lacking in the true teachings of Jesus.
I only suggested the Life Application Study Bible, because it truly helped me to understand some key issues that I just didn't "get" when reading the KJV. The KJV is often times difficult for readers and I only wished to help someone be able to truly understand what was being conveyed in the Holy Book.
It begins with a study on Biblical history, who the authors were, why the books were chosen, etc.
Perhaps if you just read a bit of it, you would see that it's not 'right wing' at all.
I am here to learn, so please enlighten me as to why you feel that particular translation is 'wrong'.
