It is from a very interesting letter Jefferson wrote while in Europe during an attemtpe rebellion here inthe States. He talks about the sheeps and wolved and what happens when the people do not watch what our elected leaders do. He talks about the whole of Congress and all of our leaders and how our not watching the government leads to the rich taking advantage of the poor...exactly what has happened with us. however, taht particular quote refers to Eurpoeans as well, not specifically the US.

I know Roger loves to blame it simply on Repubs. However, it is clear tht hte Repubs did not have the control he would like to think. To get a bill on the floor requires sixty votes in the Senate and so unless you have 60 seats or more, you can control what gets put up. I stand by my constant assertion that both parties are to blame as JHefferson suggests in thie writing. Enjoy it.

Finally, Jefferson would NEVER agree with the approach Barack Hussein is taking. He was a strong federalist who blievef in a minimal size of government where the people only give up those minimum amount of rights to protect liberty and that we should keep as much of our bread as possible. That is not what Barack Hussein is advocating. And it is not how either party has bechved for nearly a century now. Jefferson would refer to Obama's plans as tyrrany of the government...he speaks directly to Hobbes principles that humans are inherently bad and need tyranny to behave...this is completely contrary to the Locke prinicples inherent in and foundational of our founding documents.
