My knowledge/understanding is that visitors may be allowed to stay up to 180 days in a calendar year. The count includes arrival and departure days.
It is within their authority to deny entry if you have already stayed 180 days, or to stamp your passport shorter than the typical 90 days, if your intended length of stay will put you beyond 180 days. The system is computerized and they can see your previous arrival/departure dates.
Typically your passport will be stamped for 90 days from arrival. To stay beyond the stamp requires a trip to Mobay, 10K jmd and some forms to fill out including their wanting to know the reason for your stay extension.
If you are serious about staying more than 180 days/calendar year and you meet one of 4 (?) qualifications, you can apply for Permanent Residency.
