Roger, I ahve told you again an dagain how I feel about Bush and so will not addres him again. As far as you take on how it works, I once again do not agree as the government is not shipping jobs overseas. Companies have been choosing to go overseas. There is no conspiracy rahter the natural and fudamental logic of cheaper wages and taxes elsewhere. If one owns a company and they can make an additional ten, twenty or thirty percent profit by going elsewhere, where do you think the logical consequence of that will land? Increase the costs of doing business...say bye bye.
Most jobs now require skilled labor and education as well. We are failing in educating ourselves and not doing well in school. This adds to the problem and those jobs that require such are leaving too. We have severe bleeding in low skilled jobs which you do not mention and moderate bleeding in skilled jobs. And I am talking about accounting, finance and other skilled labor jobs. Here is the thing....70 percent of all new jobs in this country require a college education and almsot half of our kids are not graduating high school.
Our differences between you and I Roger seem to lie more in your assessment that the government is solely responsible. Mine is that we as Americans are to blame for much of it as well and the global changes in labor and production and cometition are the main driver. You can argue gainst htat reality, but it is the reality. The government cannot give us jobs or pay our bills. It is up to each of us to ensure that we are adequately educated and trained for what is out there and to ensure our kids havethe same. No one can do that for us. WE must do it ourselves.
Corporate bailouts? Roger....why do you ask me this? You know my position well and that I was opposed to it...dramatically opposed. I said it would not help. Did you see what the market is doing? how about today? I told everyone here this would not help as the fundamental problems have not been addressed. I don't see either the majority Dems of minority Repubs doing a thing....they are too busy and worried about elections.
As far as you redisturibtuion of wealth socialistic scheme, it has not worked anywhere and has always worsened things. Rather than take your word and view, I shall refer to and rely on the historical outcomes of such attempts which have never been good.
