No sarcasm, no joke. Just boost the penalty for possessing firearms through the roof and then go about a massive campaign of roadblocks and stop and frisk searches. Guns are easy to find on a person, you don't need to turn someones pockets inside out to find a gun. A quick pat down search will reveal if the person has a weapon or not, if the officer doesn't find a solid object the person should be sent on their way without further interrogation or "taxation". If police truly did things this way people would come around, the recent decriminalization of small amounts of ganja is a big step toward better relations between the police and the public, maybe one day they can be on the same side against violent criminals in Jamaica.
