francesca, I think you and I can both agree on one thing - it all comes down to money. It costs businesses more in California because of regulations so they go where it's cheaper, be it elsewhere in the U.S. or another country. Same goes with labor. Cheap labor in other countries, not dealing with unions, all kinds of employer reasons why it's cheaper to have factories in other countries - especially China. Even Jamaica for that matter. Several companies had factories in Jamaica, cheap labor being one of the reasons, although some are pulling out recently. And consumers won't spend more money for something made in the US when they can buy the same thing for half price if it was made in China. It's all about money. As for CA environmental regulations, I'm not saying they are bad but they are effecting the economy in CA when businesses are flocking out of the state and it is one of the reasons. There has to be a middle ground somewhere.
